SOQL Studio 2023.2 Build 305 Maintenance Release

Today we released a maintenance update to SOQL Studio 2023.2 and made it available for download on our site. As with all of our releases, this one continues our commitment to providing regular enhancements and updates, which includes customer requests, fixes to SOQL Studio and staying current with Salesforce releases.

In this post, I’ll discuss some of the more significant items included in the release, but first here’s the complete list of the enhancements and fixes included:

Enhancements
  • Upgraded to Spring ’24 (API v60)
  • Custom Metadata objects are now grouped into a Custom Metadata folder in Group View
  • Updated Comment Toggle (CTRL+/) behavior to comment all lines in a selection when the selection contains a mix of commented and uncommented lines
  • Added a lock icon on the SOQL Editor tab when a query is running to indicate the document is read-only
Bug Fixes
  • Corrected an issue that could cause the application to crash at start-up when porting the user.config file from another PC
  • Fixed an issue where Organization changes were sometimes not saved

Discussion

This is one of our smaller maintenance releases but contains improvements and fixes specifically requested by you, our customers. The first of these was to sync-up the comment toggle (CTRL+/) functionality to mirror VS Code. When we first implemented the comment toggle functionality, we made sure it worked the way our customers would expect, meaning the same as VS Code. But at some point, VS Code changed so this update brings it back in line. The existing functionality would do nothing when a selection contains a mix of commented and uncommented lines. Now when you toggle comment on a selection and that selection contains a mix of commented and uncomment lines, the entire selection will be commented. Lines that were already commented will be commented again. This mirrors the VS Code functionality. Another request was to group custom metadata objects into their own folder in the Organizations tool window when grouping is enabled. We thought that was a great suggestion and have implemented that in this release.

We also implemented a change in the timing of when Organization changes are saved. Rather than being deferred to when the application closes, organization changes are now saved when the user clicks the OK button on the Manage Organization dialog.
